Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. Starting from a humble 20 schools in 1963, KVS today has 981 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) spread over the length and breadth of this country and one KV each at Kathmandu, Moscow and Tehran. The number of students on the rolls of KVS is more than one million and the number of staff (both teaching and non teaching) is around 50,000.
Set up as a progressive and pace setting organization, the staff of KVS is being trained on a routine basis right from the inception of KVS. With the tremendous increase in the training needs, dedicated training facilities were set up by KVS in the name of Zonal Institute of Education & Training (ZIET) at Gwalior, Mumbai, Mysore and Chandigarh. ZIET Chandigarh started functioning from 01st September 2009 and is located in a compact one acre premises at Sector 33C, Chandigarh.
MISSION
Our mission is to empower the staff to equip themselves to play a pro active role in the growth and development of the students including that of enhancing academic achievement of students.
OBJECTIVES
In tune with the above stated mission, our objectives are:
- To design suitable training programmes and chalk out a calendar of training activities with the approval of KVS Headquarters
- To conduct the approved / assigned training programmes utilizing in – house as well as other resources and talents
- To prepare necessary support materials for the effective conduct of various training programmes and
- To document and disseminate the outcomes of the various training activities
